Pre-yoga Arthritis?
Achy or delicate or aged? Sore from an over-zealous class or
accident or recent surgery? Mellow aspects of pre-yoga are
marked by beginning your practice on the floor and by ending
upright. The minimum of up and down
is a boon for unstable knees or for those experiencing dizziness or
balance problems.
Level I
New to
the yoga scene? Basically fit? Recovering from not too serious
injury? Advised caution due to a physical condition? Pregnant?
Stressed? Low energy? Overworked? Curious? Postures and
breathing exercises will be consistently and repetitively presented
in order to provide
a basis for remembering them; and for maximum understanding of their
benefits.
Level
II
If you're familiar with yoga, or
accustomed to exercise, start here. Classes remain meditative.
Postures are held
longer with expanded variations. Continued attention to
breath and balancing poses are emphasized along with more standing
postures, body lifting and strengthening poses.
Level
III/All Level
Many students enjoy the series postures (sun,
moon, hero vinyasas etc.) and the more experimental approach. Arm lifts, upsidedown poses, lunge/twists, back
arches, and advanced breathing techniques are explored.
Level
IV
Includes variations on the series poses, advanced balances,
combination postures which may be up to three or four postures in
one, upside down poses (headstand with variations, etc.), Fast paced assuming that students are fit and experienced.
All
Level/Mixed
Saturday morning students often come from varied levels of interest
and experience, and the all level classes accommodate the week-end
kick-back mood. The practice tends to be of a wake-up variety
but remains rooted in the basic postures, continued breath
awareness, meditation and focus.
